Photo Flash: Broadway-Bound Ian McKellen Visits NEWSIES!

Newsies is currently in its second year on Broadway and is still bringing audiences to their feet nightly at the Nederlander Theatre. Ian McKellen, who will soon star opposite Patrick Stewart in No Man's Land and Waiting for Godot on Broadway recently stopped by to check out the dancing newsboys. Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his work.

The Broadway company of Newsies features Corey Cott as Jack Kelly, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, LaVon Fisher-Wilson as Medda Larkin, Ben Fankhauseras Davey, Andy Richardson as Crutchie, and Nicholas Lampiasi and Joshua Colley alternating the role of Les.
