The stars were out for Sarasota and fans of Bonnie & Clyde who filled Asolo Rep's Mertz Theatre Tuesday night to attend- An Intimate Evening with Frank Wildhorn & Friends. The starry concert featured musical theatre legend and Bonnie & Clyde composer Frank Wildhorn, and starred Rob Evan and Laura Osnes, with Marlyn Sanchez, and Jack Murphy; who performed songs from Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Wonderland, Bonnie & Clyde and more. Bassist Gregg Voorhees accompanied.

The concert was presented in a simple and elegant format, on the very stage where only two days before Bonnie & Clyde had its final Asolo Rep performance. With Wildhorn at the grand piano and his special guests alternately gracing the stage, the artists performed a select repertoire sprinkled with conversation and recollections, giving the audience a rare glimpse into the great Broadway experience.

The concert was followed by a gala champagne reception hosted by Asolo Rep on the mezzanine lobby of the Performing Arts Center. The celebration was interspersed with greetings, photos and celebration as some of the artists from Bonnie & Clyde, family, and friends mingled with fans. The high energy buzz was certainly punctuated by prospects of the musical's future, but the performers of An Intimate Evening with Frank Wildhorn & Friends stole the show.

Honoring his musical roots in Florida where his production of Svengali appeared on the Asolo Rep stage in 1992, Wildhorn returned to Sarasota for this concert after a great run of Bonnie & Clyde and as rehearsals for Wonderland start at the Straz Center in Tampa. Multi-Grammy and Tony Award nominated composer/producer Frank Wildhorn's works span the worlds of popular, theatrical, and classical music. In 1999, Frank became the first American composer in 22 years to have three shows running simultaneously on Broadway: Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Civil War. Also for Broadway: Dracula and Victor/Victoria. Frank produced Harlem Song the famed Apollo Theatre. International: Cyrano, The Count of Monte Cristo, Carmen, Rudolf, Mitsuko, Never Say Goodbye, Camille Claudel, and Tears of Heaven. He currently has his own label deal (Soul Bear Records) with Sony Masterworks. International recording partnership, MWB (Music Without Borders), with MG-Sound/Vienna. Frank served as music director for the Goodwill Games in New York City (1998). He wrote the song "Gold", the opening number for the 2002 Winter Olympics, sung by Linda Eder.
