Photo Coverage: The 8th Annual GLAAD OUTAuction NYC
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, presented the 8th Annual GLAAD OUTAuction NYC to celebrate established and emerging artists on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th St, New York, NY.
Joel Grey presented artist Ross Bleckner with the first Out in Art Award for his work to raise visibility of LGBT people in the art industry.
600 guests attended the cocktail reception and silent auction fundraiser. The silent auction featured 100 pieces from emerging artists chosen by an Arts Advisory Committee of top names in the art industry. Guests will also bid on live auction pieces by Joan Miro, Wassily Kandinsky, Stephen Klein and Herb Ritts.
All proceeds benefit the work of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to amplify the stories of the gay and transgender community to educate the public on our lives and to fight anti-gay defamation.
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
