LeRoy has his problems. Towels go missing, leaving The Grand Felice with just 750 towels for the 1200 guests arriving tomorrow. A fancy, young doctor appears. An employee is hospitalized. Guests, who tend to let down their hair as their holiday progresses, create worrisome incidents such as thefts, noise, excessive flirting with the staff, and even a shark sighting near the shore. What's a manager to do, aside from treating his never-ending stomach upsets?

Meanwhile LeRoy is beginning to notice changes in himself. Having lost his wife some years ago, LeRoy is lonely and would like to cut back on his hours or retire completely. Instead he must work tirelessly, but on the other hand he can't imagine what he would do with his life if he left the resort. Then he meets Sadie, his assistant's mother, who is about to retire from her teaching job. LeRoy is smitten, but is Sadie smitten as well?

With The Grand Felice, author Patricia Boyle, who clearly loves to travel, has taken the travelogue novel and turned it on its head. This is not a book about people on vacation, but a behind-the-scenes look at the remarkable individuals who make the vacation memorable. The pacing is swift, the writing is light but deft, and the characters lively while being true to life. Kind of like a Caribbean breeze at cocktail hour.

Author Biography: Patricia Boyle freelances for newspapers and magazines, dabbles in song writing, has published three other books, plus a co-operative cookbook called Anecdotes and Anecdates. She is a founding member of Wye Write, a local writers' group named after the Wye River in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada, and contributes short stories to Wye Write's anthologies. Patricia rounds out her life by spending time with her family and friends and travelling as much as possible.
