Afro-Columbian electronic music pioneers PALENKE SOULTRIBE will release their new full-length album MAR on Tuesday, April 9 on their own Soultribe Records. The first single "Move It" will be available at iTunes and all other digital retailers on Tuesday, February 19. Look for a music video for the song to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

The Columbian-born, Los Angeles-based duo--JUAN DIEGO BORDA (Vocals, Sequencer, Bass) andANDRES "POPA" ERAZO (Vocals, Synths, Gaita)--offer a refreshingly unique sound fashioned for dance floors all over the globe: a dubby, dancefloor-friendly hybrid of electronic beats and Colombian styles - especially cumbia. The album's first single "Move It" is an experiment with faster acid African-kuduro tempos and features L.A.-based singer Naada. MAR, which means "sea" in Spanish, is the second album in a trilogy and follows PALENKE SOULTRIBE'scritically acclaimed 2009 LP ORO, which translates to "gold." The group's next album will be titled ROJO, or"red," tying the three album titles together to symbolize the three colors of the Columbian flag: yellow, blue and red.

Los Angeles' KCRW producer and tastemaker Ariana Morgenstern selected ORO as one of the Top 10 Albums of 2009. Billboard raved: "Electronic trio Palenke Soultribe seamlessly combines Colombian rhythms with Chemical Brothers-style beats to create its own joyous mix. Oro packs together dance anthems, live funk and cumbia, with Colombian folk accordion and percussion...If you throw on Oro, the party will be good for the next hour." (8/11/09) Elsewhere, AOL's Spinner.com made note of the group's "distinctive beat"and said, "Combining their Colombian flavor with rock and electronica, Palenke Soultribe is in a category all their own" (3/2/10), while MTV's Tr3s noted, "Critically acclaimed LA based band Palenke Soultribe, has taken electronic music to new levels by deconstructing Afro-Colombian Rhythms by blending them with Underground beats and exploratory synth sounds. PST represents a new generation of Colombian musicians ready to break all the rules." (2009)

To celebrate the release of MAR, PALENKE SOULTRIBE has also confirmed a string of tour dates in the U.S., kicking off March 7 in Miami with stops in New York, Washington, DC and Philadelphia. JUAN and POPA will be joined onstage with a full ensemble Latin band and a few specials guests.

"We started out more like DJs, dropping beats and sampling," explains JUAN of the duo's early shows. "Slowly we started to enjoy playing live more. We started adding instruments and we feel the music start to Breathe more, and our audiences seem to also have evolved from the traditional laptop DJ set. They want to see more. So we based our ensemble on drums, Colombian percussion, keyboards/samples/laptop, bass guitar and vocals. We also like to invite guest musicians like accordion, gaita, etc."
