Producers announced today that the hit off-Broadway comedy, OLD JEWS TELLING JOKES, which has entertained Chicago audiences for more than five months, will close at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted Street, on Sunday evening, March 2, at 5pm.

Co-creator and co-producer Daniel Okrent said, "It's been a blast, watching audiences convulse themselves with laughter for the past five months." The other co-creator/co-producer, Peter Gethers, said, "Dan's right -- although they laughed much more at my jokes than at his."

Since opening October 2, 2013, the critics have unanimously raved, calling the show "Very very funny!" "Hilarious!" and "Wonderful," earning it several three and ½ star reviews.

Created by Peter Gethers and Daniel Okrent, OLD JEWS TELLING JOKES is directed by Marc Bruni and showcases the five actors in a comedy that pays tribute to and reinvents classic jokes of the past and present. The show also features comic songs -- brand new and satisfyingly old - as well as tributes to some of the giants of the comedy world and to OldJewsTellingJokes.com, the website created by Sam Hoffman that inspired the show.

In addition to Okrent, Gethers and Bruni, the rest of the creative team is David Gallo (Scenic and Video Design); Jeff Croiter (Lighting Design); Alejo Vietti (Costume Design); Peter Fitzgerald (Sound Design); Steve Channon (Animation); Adam Wachter (Musical Supervision and Arrangements); and David Ruttura (Associate Director). It is produced by Daniel Okrent and Peter Gethers, and Richard Frankel, Tom Viertel, Steven Baruch and Marc Routh.

OLD JEWS TELLING JOKES will be performed at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted Street, Chicago, through Sunday, March 2, with the following schedule: Wednesdays at 2 & 7:30pm; Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30pm; Saturdays at 5 & 8pm; and Sundays at 2 & 5pm.
