ODC Theater to Host Evening of Dance & Food, 5/13

ODC Theater, one of the West Coast's major centers for contemporary dance and performance, will host a benefit in support of its future programs on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. The annual event, called Indulge, includes an array of irresistible desserts and savories provided by some of the Mission district's best bakeries, shops and food emporiums. The benefit also features pop-up dance performances, a film screening, spirited beverages, enticing auction items and a chance to mingle with artists and art-lovers alike.

The establishments generously donating desserts for this occasion are Anthony's Cookies,Dandelion Chocolate,Dianda's Bakery, La Victoria, Marin French Cheese, Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous and Pinkies Bakeshop. Bluxome St. Winery and Square One Vodka are proud to donate wine and specialty drinks.

The evening's culinary treats will be accompanied by pop-up performances and a film screening featuring works by: EmSpace Dance, Hope Mohr Dance, Joe Goode Performance Group,RAWdance and Scott Wells & Dancers.

Guests at the event may also participate in a silent auction for a chance to win a number of arts- and food-related prizes.

In addition to the Indulge desserts and dance benefit starting at 8pm, some of ODC's favorite neighborhood restaurants will host benefit dinners starting at 6pm. Participating establishments include Abbot's Cellar, Bar Agricole, Blue Plate, Central Kitchen, Delfina, Ichi Sushi, Hayes Street Grill, Loló and Universal Café. Star Chef Matt Semmelhack is this year's Honorary Chair ofIndulge, and his flagship restaurant, AQ Restaurant & Bar, and his newest venture, Mélange Market, located inside ODC Theater will also host dinners for the occasion.

A limited number of seats are available for the benefit dinners, which include a two-course meal with wine pairings and entry to Indulge for dessert. Tickets are $150. Through April 10 theater patrons may also take advantage of a $200 promotion including dinner, tickets to Indulge and a festival pass to the Walking Distance Dance Festival-SF, May 30 - 31. All proceeds benefit ODC Theater programming.

ODC Theater participates in the creation of new works through commissioning, presenting, mentorship and space access; it develops informed, engaged and committed audiences; and it advocates for the performing arts as an essential component to the region's economic and cultural development. The Theater is the site of over 120 performances a year involving nearly 1,000 local, regional, national and international artists.

Since 1976, ODC Theater has been the mobilizing force behind countless San Francisco artists and the foothold for national and international touring artists seeking debut in the Bay Area. The Theater, founded by Brenda Way and currently under the direction ofChristy Bolingbroke, has earned its place as a cultural incubator by dedicating itself to creative change-makers, those leaders who give the Bay Area its unmistakable definition and flare. Nationally known artistsSpaulding Gray, Diamanda Galas, Molissa Fenley, Bill T. Jones, Eiko & Koma, Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, Ban Rarra and Karole Armitage are among those whose first San Francisco appearance occurred at ODC Theater.
