Nathan Lane to Star in Goodman Theatre's ICEMAN COMETH

According to the Chicago Tribune, Nathan Lane will star in the Goodman Theatre production of Eugene O'Neill's  "The Iceman Cometh."  The show will be directed by Robert Falls and will run in Spring 2012. Falls commented: "Nathan had approached me about wanting to work on an O'Neill play and I have finally been able to put together this project I have been working on for three years. I think this is the greatest American play."

Lane added, "I thought that if I was going to climb this mountain, I should do it in a city where I feel comfortable and with people with whom I feel comfortable."

Lane is best known for his roles as Albert in The Birdcage, Max Bialystock in the musical The Producers, Ernie Smuntz in MouseHunt, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and his voice work in The Lion King and Stuart Little. In 2008, he was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame.

The Iceman Cometh is a play written by American playwright Eugene O'Neill in 1939. First published in 1940 the play premiered on Broadway at the Martin Beck Theatre on 9 October 1946, directed by Eddie Dowling where it ran for 136 performances to close on 15 March 1947. It was last revived on Broadway in 1999.
