NYU Steinhardt to Stage THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE

NYU Steinhardt's Program in Vocal Performance will present The Pirates of Penzance from March 30-April 2, 2017. The immortal comic opera features libretto by W. S. Gilbert and music by Arthur Sullivan. William Wesbrooks directs.

The Pirates of Penzance - which originally opened in England and New York City in 1879 - tells the tale of Frederic, an orphan and apprentice to a band of kindhearted pirates off the coast of England. A love story, a leap-year birthday discovery, and comical misadventure ensue, bringing the audience spirited and beloved songs such as "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General." The production promises a rollicking good time with a timeless classic.

NYU's production of The Pirates of Penzance runs March 30-April 1 at 8 p.m. and April 2 at 3 p.m. at the Frederick Loewe Theatre, 35 West 4th Street. The production stage manager is Julie Hurley.
