Today, December 16, 2013, the Museum of the City of New York hosts Spotlight on Broadway: New York's Theater Design and Architecture, a special evening exploring the design and architectural history of the Theater District. The event is co-presented by the City of New York's Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, which recently launched SpotlightonBroadway.com, a multi-media project chronicling the evolution of Broadway's 40 official theaters and honoring the thousands of men and women who have worked on Broadway. The event is presented in conjunction with Norman Bel Geddes: I Have Seen the Future.

Following a tour by Donald Albrecht, MCNY's Curator of Architecture and Design, of the theater designs in Norman Bel Geddes: I Have Seen the Future, Commissioner Katherine Oliver of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment will introduce a panel of distinguished Broadway guests: Diane Paulus, Director; Natasha Katz, Lighting Designer; and Scott Pask, Scenic Designer. The panel will discuss how their work intersects with Broadway's design, architecture, and cultural legacy; video clips will also introduce viewers to the unique history of several of Broadway's famed theaters.

TICKETS: Reservations are required. Ticket prices: Free for Museum members; $12 for students and seniors; $16 for general public.
