According to an announcement by Lee Bollinger, founding director of the Arts Initiative at Columbia University, Gregory Mosher, will be redirecting his efforts on theatre and continuing as a Professor of Professional Practice for the fall. Mosher has headed the program for the past six years.

As described by Bollinger, Mosher's departure, "marks a moment to recognize the success he has had in translating an ambitious vision for the Arts Initiative into a multi-layered program serving thousands in the Columbia community and many others beyond our campus."

The Arts Initiative at Columbia University is President Lee C. Bollinger's pioneering venture to make arts and culture a meaningful part of every Columbian's experience. Its diverse programs encourage students, faculty, and alumni in all fields to generate, study, and engage the creative life of the campus, the city, and the wider world.

The Initiative, was launched by Columbia's President Lee C. Bollinger in 2004. From its inception, the Arts Initiative has nurtured a strong and creative relationship with Columbia's students, faculty and staff.

Bollinger added, "Gregory's extraordinary efforts to imagine and establish the Arts Initiative at Columbia leave us well positioned to ensure that the entire spectrum of university life continues to be enriched by the arts.   We are delighted that Columbia students and faculty will continue to benefit from Gregory teaching at the School of the Arts."
