Moonbox Productions presents Kimberly Akimbo, the heartwarming and quirky coming-of-age play from Pulitzer Prize-winning South Boston native David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole), April 3-25, 2015 at the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza Theatre, 539 Tremont Street, Boston. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays/Saturdays at 8 pm, Sat/Sun matinees 2 pm. Tickets are $35/$30 ($15 student rush ½ hour prior to performance) available at bostontheatrescene.com or by calling 617-933-8600.

By her 16th birthday, Kimberly looks more like her grandmother than her peers. A teenager with a rare disease that causes her to age several times faster than normal, she's facing the end of her life as most girls her age are celebrating the beginnings of adulthood. When Kimberly and her family flee their hometown under dubious circumstances, she finds herself re-evaluating her life while contending with her own mortality, a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, a con artist aunt, and perhaps most terrifying of all-the possibility of first love.

Directed by IRNE and Elliot Norton nominated Allison Olivia Choat with original and incidental score by IRNE winner Dan Rodriguez, the cast features Lucas Cardona (Jeff), Shana Dirik* (Debra), Micah Greene (Pattie), Sheriden Thomas* (Kimberly) and Andrew Winson (Buddy). *Member of Actor's Equity Association.

The creative and design team include Sharman Altshuler (Producer), Allison Olivia Choat (Director), Dan Rodriguez (Original Music), John Paul Devlin (Set Design), Jeffrey E. Salzberg (Lighting Design), Susanne Miller (Costume Design), Joel Abbott (Sound Design), Matthew Houstle (Projection Design), Matthew Zahnzinger (Stage Manager), Cameron MacEachern (Properties Master), Martin R. Anderson (Speech Coach) and Danny Bryck (Dialect Coach).

Moonbox Productions was founded in 2011 by Producer/Artistic Director Sharman Altshuler. Based in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Moonbox is dedicated to supporting local arts and local artists, and to connecting communities to the non-profit organizations that serve them. To fulfill their artistic mission, Moonbox taps the deep well of talent within their own communities to bring top quality theatrical experiences to stages throughout the Greater Boston area. To fulfill their social mission, they partner with a local non-profit organization for each show, giving them visibility on their website and in their promotional materials, as well as giving them access to their audiences in order to raise awareness of their cause, create connections within the community, and increase the reach and impact of their work.

As part of every production, Moonbox spotlights the work of a local non-profit organization, helping them to increase the reach and impact of their work. Moonbox will partner with Mssing Links, embracing, nurturing, and unleashing the power found within the voices of urban youth, for this production.
