There will be a memorial celebrating the life of Arthur Gelb, the legendary editor of The New York Times, today, September 9 at 1:30pm. The free event, which is open to the public, will be held at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (230 West 49th Street between 7th & 8th Avenues).

Speakers will include Maureen Dowd, Michael Gelb, Bernard Kalb, Robert Klein, Frank Rich, Gay Talese, and Marian Wood, with performances by Broadway star Kelli O'Hara and Metropolitan Opera bass-baritone Eric Owens, accompanied by pianist Adam Ben-David.

Doors open at 1pm; the program will last approximately one hour. No tickets are required.
