The Bottomless Pit, a weekly hour-long radio show hosted by Grammy- and Golden Globe-nominated rock singer-songwriter Marshall Crenshaw is coming to WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org) beginning on Saturday, June 18th at 10:00 PM. Airingright after Vin Scelsa's Idiot's Delight, The Bottomless Pit features music from Crenshaw's own record collection and his tales about his thirty years as a recording artist.

Crenshaw puts his mission on The Bottomless Pit simply. "Basically, I bring in records from home, most of which I've paid for with my own hard-earned money, I play the stuff and I run my mouth. Hopefully not too much."

"Marshall Crenshaw has such diverse musical taste and is so engaging on the air, both qualities that the WFUV audience really appreciates. We thought his show would be a perfect fit for WFUV," added WFUV's Chuck Singleton. On July 1, Singleton assumes the role of interim general manager. "I have a feeling he'll be introducing our listeners to a lot of music they'll want to know about."

With a musical career spanning over three decades, Crenshaw first rose to prominence with his hit song "Someday, Someway" and has since released ten studio albums. Noted music critic Robert Christgau has praised Crenshaw's "intelligence, integrity, and passion for the great song," Crenshaw is also an accomplished actor, having played John Lennon in the 1987 Broadway production of Beatlemania and Buddy Holly in the movie La Bamba.

WFUV is a non-commercial, listener-supported public radio station, licensed to Fordham University for over 60 years. Serving the New York area as well as an international audience on the web, and a leader in contemporary music radio, WFUV is Rock & Roots Radio, offering an eclectic mix of rock, singer-songwriters, blues, world and other music, plus headlines from National Public Radio and local news.
