One of the most famous and controversial birthday celebrations will be commemorated tomorrow as dozens of Marilyn Monroe look-alikes will sing “Happy Birthday” on the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s birthday celebration held at Madison Square Garden.

Caribaya Rum is holding the Golden Anniversary celebration in which they are searching for the perfect Marilyn Monroe look-alike. The winning Marilyn will be displayed in their ad campaign in the fall and will be put on thousands of New York City MTA buses. There will be a press conference tomorrow, May 19, 2012 at 12:00 p.m., surrounded by Marilyn Monroes at 421 Seventh Avenue, cor. 33rd Street, Suite 901 in Manhattan. After the announcement, they will be strutting their stuff across Seventh Avenue in front of Madison Square Garden.

In 1962, there were 15,000 in attendance at J.F.K.’s 45th birthday party at Madison Square Garden that included hundreds of celebrities, dignitaries, and sports figures. With Jackie Kennedy not in attendance, Monroe, wearing a skin-tight dress with 2,500 rhinestones sewn into it, serenaded the President in what is considered the most controversial and provocative tributes ever made. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Ms. Monroe’s death which will be commemorated with tributes in her honor around the world.

The event takes place tomorrow at noon at 421 Seventh Ave., corner 33rd Street, Suite 901 in Manhattan, NYC.
