KITCHEN MUSICAL Set to Debut in China

Southeast Asian English-language channel AXN is planning to present the region's first ever TV musical, "The Kitchen Musical," according to Variety. "The Kitchen Musical" will combine drama, music, dance and recipes and is set to premiere across China in October.

There are a few big named attached to the project, including Australian choreographer Jason Coleman, who worked on the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Gerard Salonga from the Philippines will be the musical director Gerard Salonga from and international make-up artist Massimiliano Della Maggesa is also set for the musical.

Cast members are said to include Karylle Tatlonghari and Filipino actor Christian Bautista.

"Featuring some very talented Asians, the show will tap into Asian viewers' passion for drama, music, dance, and food," said Ricky Ow, senior veep and GM Networks, Sony Pictures Television.

Principal photography for "The Kitchen Musical" is set to begin Jun. 1 in Singapore.
