For his new one-man show, Bay Area performance icon Josh Kornbluth turns his attention to the subject of the Contemporary Jewish Museum's current exhibition, Warhol's Jews: Ten Portraits Reconsidered and attempts to answer the question "Was Warhol good for the Jews?". In his characteristically irreverent and informative style, he takes on the ten cultural luminaries portrayed by Andy Warhol in his famous 1980 series Ten Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century, which includes such figures as Albert Einstein, George Gershwin, Golda Meir, and the Marx Brothers. While mining the lives of these extraordinary people for laughs, the show explores the nature of contemporary identity and the complex texture of modern Jewish life. Each performance will be followed by one of Josh's signature "talk backs" featuring a guest expert on one of the historical figures.

Making its world premiere at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in downtown San Francisco, Andy Warhol: Good for the Jews? is a new one-man play written and performed by Bay Area performance icon Josh Kornbluth. Inspired by the Museum's exhibition Warhol's Jews: Ten Portraits Reconsidered, the play offers a humorous and penetrating take on Andy Warhol's series of portraits of ten Jews of the twentieth century, which includes such cultural luminaries as Albert Einstein, Gertrude Stein and the Marx Brothers.

With the opening of its new building on June 8, 2008, the Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM) ushered in a new chapter in its 20-plus year history of engaging audiences and artists in exploring contemporary perspectives on Jewish culture, history, art, and ideas.
