Jonathan Pryce Confirmed To Step Into 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels'

Producer Marty Bell confirmed in a statement to the press that Jonathan Pryce will return to Broadway this season taking over for John Lithgow in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"

"Jonathan Pryce is one of the most talented and versatile leading men on stage and screen. We are thrilled to be welcoming him back to Broadway after almost 15 years. This con is a pro!" said Marty Bell.

Pryce begin performances on January 17th. Norbert Leo Butz continues his Tony-award winning role as Freddy through July 2006.

Pryce hasn't been on the boards since 1991 when he won his second Tony award for Miss Saigon. His first Tony was in 1977 when he starred in Comedians.

Since last appearing on Broadway, Pryce has appeared in London in various productions such as Oliver, My Fair Lady, Cabaret, and The Goat or Who Is Sylvia?

In addition to his stage appearances, he is also been seen in such films as Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Brothers Grimm, De-Lovely, What A Girl Wants, Evita, Glengarry Glen Ross and over 40 more plus television appearances.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which follows the hijinx of two crooks on the French Riviera, features a book by to Yazbek's (The Full Monty) music and lyrics. Directed by two-time Tony Award-winner and choreographed by Tony Award-winner , the show is currently a hit at Broadway's Imperial Theatre, where it opened on March 3rd.
