Jena Malone will make her Broadway debut as Sister James in DOUBT, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Doug Hughes.   Malone, who stars in the current hit film version of Pride and Prejudice, will begin performances opposite Eileen Atkins as Sister Aloysius, Ron Eldard as Father Flynn and Tony Award® winner Adriane Lenox as Mrs. Muller on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street).  

Cherry Jones, Brían F. O'Byrne and Heather Goldenhersh will play their final performance on Sunday, January 8, 2006.

Jena Malone will make her Broadway debut as Sister James in Doubt.  She is featured as Lydia Bennet in the current hit film version of Jane Austen's classic, Pride and Prejudice, and will be seen in the upcoming releases, Lying, The Go-Getter, The Container and Four Last Songs.  Other film credits include The Ballad of Jack and Rose, Saved, United States of Leland, Cold Mountain, American Girl, The Badge, Life as a House, Donnie Darko, Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, Cheaters, For the Love of the Game, Book of Stars, Stepmom and Contact.  Her television credits include "Origins of Evil," "The Ballad of Lucy Whipple," "Hope" (Golden Globe nomination), "Ellen Foster" (Young Artist Award winner), "Bastard Out of Carolina," opposite Ron Eldard, and "Hidden in America".

Director Doug Hughes received Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Lortel Awards for his direction of DOUBT, and an Obie Award for sustained excellence.

Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, DOUBT is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues…even if she's not entirely certain of the truth? 

Set design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design is by Catherine Zuber, lighting design is by Pat Collins, original music and sound design is by David Van Tieghem. 

DOUBT is produced by Carole Shorenstein Hays, MTC Productions Inc. (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer), Roger Berlind and Scott Rudin. DOUBT is author John Patrick Shanley's first play to be produced on Broadway. 

Performance schedule is Tuesday through Saturday at 8:00 PM, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 PM, and Sunday at 3:00 PM.
