James Welling has selected 65 works for an exhibition and sale at David Zwirner in New York to benefit the Foundation for Contemporary Arts (FCA). Sixteen works have been contributed by artists at Welling's invitation and 49 were selected from the FCA's collection, including works from its first benefit exhibition in 1963.

Foundation for Contemporary Arts (FCA)is the arts grant-making organization founded in 1963 by Jasper Johns and John Cage. FCA's mission is to encourage, sponsor, and promote innovative work in the arts created and presented by individuals, groups, and organizations. Its "artists for artists" legacy continues today with Grants to Artists, unrestricted, by-nomination grants supporting pioneering work across the fields of dance, music/sound, performance art/theater, poetry, and the visual arts. EmergenCy Grants are also made to assist artists with last-minute expenses and unexpected opportunities related to their work. Since 1963, over 2,600 grants to artists and arts organizations-totaling nearly $12 million-have provided opportunities for creative exploration and the realization of new work.
