James Snyder (Broadway's Cry-Baby, Goodspeed's Carousel) has joined the company of If/Then, the new musical by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning creative team behind Next To Normal, Tom Kitt (music), Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics), and Michael Greif (director). Mr. Snyder joins the previously announced Idina Menzel, LaChanze, and Anthony Rapp.

Mr. Snyder will play Josh, a doctor and army reservist who meets Elizabeth (Menzel) on her first day back in New York City. Additional casting and the full creative team will be announced shortly.

James Snyder has been seen on stage and screen, notably in Broadway's Cry-Baby, for which he received a Drama League Award nomination, and recently as Billy Bigelow in Goodspeed Opera House's production of Carousel. His additional theatre credits include Johnny Baseball at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Fanny at New York City Center, Broadway: Three Generations at The Kennedy Center, Rock of Ages (Los Angeles, Las Vegas), Oedipus the King, Mama (Troubadour Theater Co.), Happy Days, The Fantasticks (Sacramento Music Circus), Hamlet, Sneaux, Oklahoma!, and Star Wars Trilogy in 30 Minutes. On television, he has appeared in Blue Bloods, Drop Dead Diva, CSI, Without a Trace, Cold Case, Gilmore Girls, and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, among others. James' film credits include She's The Man, An American in China, Anderson's Cross, Shuttle, Pretty Persuasion (Sundance Film Festival), and the upcoming indie film, Meth Head. His solo album, L.A. Curse, is available on iTunes and www.jamessnyder.com.

On the verge of turning 40, Elizabeth moves back to New York City, the ultimate city of possibility, intent on a fresh start - new home, new friends, and hopes for a resurgent career. But even in her carefully planned new life, the smallest decision or most random occurrence will impact her world in ways she never dreamt possible. Set against the ever-shifting landscape of modern day Manhattan, If/Then is a romantic and original new musical about how choice and chance collide and how we learn to love the fallout.

If/Then will have its world premiere in a pre-Broadway out-of-town engagement at The National Theatre in Washington, D.C., beginning preview performances on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 and running through December 8, 2013.

If/Then will play Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street) in spring 2014, beginning preview performances on Tuesday, March 4, and officially opening on Thursday, March 27, 2014.
