On Wednesday, June 6th at 9 p.m., performer and composer James Crowley will appear at Don't Tell Mama (343 W. 46th St.).

The performance is entitled "I'll Buy the Moon for You," and is described in press notes as a "one hour performance featuring classic and contemporary Broadway songs and a few standards, as well as a couple of original pieces, including the title number." Some of the songs to be included are: "Bring Him Home," "Mr. Cellophane," "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?," and "Danny Boy."

The pianist for the evening is accompanist and musical director Rachel A. Kaufman.

With Bob Stempin, Crowley wrote Sleepy Hollow: A New Musical, based on the classic work by Washington Irving. Other musicals include 14th Avenue and Benjamin - An American Opera. He has also written several straight plays including Benny Farrel Was Murdered? and The Secret of Pepper Park. Crowley has been Artist-in-Residence with Creighton Elementary School District in Phoenix since the Fall of 2001 and has assisted dozens of middle school students in the creation and production of their own musical theatre works. He is also a co-founder of Arizona Musical Theatre Institute, a non-profit organization committed to the development and promotion of new works in musical theatre. He is currently collaborating with Stempin on Walking With Grace, a new musical set in 1929 Brooklyn, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Match Girl and Dearest Teacher, a new musical about the early life of Annie Sullivan. He is a member of The Dramatists Guild of America, American Guild of Musical Artists, and Actors' Equity Association.
