RFK, a play written and performed by Jack Holmes and directed by Larry Moss (The Syringa Tree), will explore the complex life of Robert F. Kennedy. The show will begin previews on Saturday, November 5th and open on Tuesday, November 15th at 7 PM at The Culture Project (45 Bleecker Street at Lafayette).

Presented by The Culture Project by special arrangement with Winship Cook and Arleen Sorkin, the show will feature a design team that includes Neil Patel (sets) and David Weiner (lights). An earlier version of RFK (originally titled The Awful Grace of God: A Portrait of Robert F. Kennedy) was successfully presented in Los Angeles last year.

"By late summer 1964, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, still in shock and consumed with grief over the assassination of his older brother, President John F. Kennedy, was at a crossroad in his life," state press notes. "The presidential election was approaching and President Lyndon Johnson finally called him to the White House to end months of speculation over whether or not he would be Johnson's Vice Presidential running mate.  The result of that meeting and the subsequent direction of RFK's life are the focus of the play. Going backward and forward in time, we see Kennedy grow from husband to father to grieving brother to New York senator to outspoken critic of the war in Vietnam to Democratic Presidential candidate. The producers and the creative team were first drawn to the play because 'Robert Kennedy's enlightened words resonate with us today. Issues that were at the center of RFK's campaign--peace, justice, equality, poverty and responsibility -- have as much, if not more, relevance today as they did in 1968.'"

RFK is the first full-length play in which Holmes has acted.
His New York theater performances include the role of Anthrax in Plautus' The Pot of Gold and as Earhart Borkman in Ibsen's John Gabriel Borkman, both at Theatre 22. Also in New York, he originated the role of McNamara in the world premiere of Charles Messina and Paul Goncalves' play Roman Candles. His other roles include Joe in The Time of Your Life and Jerry in The Zoo Story. In Los Angeles, he played Al Royce in In the Boom Boom Room as well as participating for several years in the annual LA Playwright's Express playing lead roles in staged readings of Visitation Rites, Slightly Higher In Canada, and Lightning In A Bottle. He played Robert F. Kennedy in The Awful Grace of God both in Sierra Madre and in Los Angeles at the Court Theatre.

RFK will play the following performance schedule: Tuesday Saturday at 8PM, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday at 3PM.
