New York City's leading arts-education non-profit organization Inside Broadway (www.InsideBroadway.org) will now be bringing its hugely popular after-school theater "Create a Musical" Program to a total of 20 N.Y.C. Public Schools throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens & The Bronx as of January 19. This special arts program for elementary, middle & high school students culminates in a Final Performance at each school and is funded by the New York City Council through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs under the Council's C.A.S.A (Cultural After-School Adventures) Initiative. Seven additional schools will be participating in the program in the winter & spring.

Since 1982, Inside Broadway (Founder/Executive Director, Michael Presser) has impacted the lives of nearly one million New York City public school students with its one-of-a-kind arts & education programs that educate & foster new generations of theatergoers. From Broadway stages at shows like Wicked & Finding Neverland right into the classroom, Inside Broadway is now in its 34th year of offering live theatre programs that enrich the lives of thousands of kids each year.

Inside Broadway's After-School C.A.S.A. Program is an exciting 25-Session Build-A-Musical Theater Workshop led by an Inside Broadway teaching artist and a musical director. During sessions, the students will learn choreography, voice & acting skills and rehearse to perform in their own original musical. They will also work with a scenic designer to create a backdrop for the final performance, taking place in their school's auditorium. This year's show is "The Galactic Dance A Thon" that features swing music and a storyline about the planets. Final performances begin at the end of January and will take place in February, March, April & May.

Inside Broadway was established in 1982 by Michael Presser. Today, Inside Broadway reaches over 30,000 New York City students each year and develops and produces touring Equity musical productions as well as a wide range of educational programs that allow participants to interact with professionals in the field and experience theatre hands-on in the classroom. Programs of Inside Broadway are funded by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York City Council, New York City Department of Education, and numerous foundations and individuals.
