RoadKill, a highly physical, collaborative dance theater production, will make its New York City debut Wednesday, May 27th - Saturday, May 30th at IRT Theater in Greenwich Village as part of IRT's 3B Artist Series. Created by Lauren Lasorda and Tali Custer, RoadKill is an Improbable Stage Tree House Production. New pieces by San Francisco dance company detour dance and NYC choreographer Micca will also be presented with Lasorda and Custer's RoadKill as part of the same evening of work.

RoadKill challenges the social norms of opposite sex friendships and asks what is required for these friendships to begin and to be maintained. Through dance and dialogue, the piece provides a powerful look at how we create boundaries for our friendships and romantic relationships. Society dictates that our relationships must choose a side of the road and stick to it. RoadKill asks if crossing the double yellow line always leads to a head on collision or if an alternative is possible to society's one way street.

"RoadKill has been that ideal, rare blend of collaboration, time and exploration," says RoadKill dancer Megan Mizanty. Utilizing a unique collaborative rehearsal process that draws from its cast of five dancers' individual talents and experiences, RoadKill explores ideas through guided improvisation using poems, prompts and psychological research. "I think we have all come away with a refreshed vantage point on many sticky, complex and hushed situations of 'maybe more' friendships," continued Mizanty, "and I think audience members will as well."

Roadkill will be performed by Tali Custer, Megan Mizanty, Danielle Mumpower, Jonathan Taylor and Raleigh Tyler and feature original music by NYC composer Frank Grullon. The creative team includes Sarah Burke (lighting design), Jeffrey Perri (scenic design), Olivia Gemelli (sound design) and Vorachon Roonsgri (costume design).
