United Solo Theatre Festival presents HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE GARDAÍ otonight, 28th October 2013 7.30pm at the Studio Theatre, Theatre Row, 410 W. 42nd Street.

"Where are you from? Where is your home? A girl is nearly deported from Ireland. So what's the big deal?"

How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Gardaí is a new play that sheds light on one woman's attempt to interrogate the bureaucratic horror that is Immigration Policy. Borders are not only political they are personal, and this exciting show examines the desire tofind something human and worthwhile in a deeply dehumanizing process.

This show is a hilarious, poignant, and truthful retelling of a deeply personal, grueling, and upsetting merry-go-round of miscommunication and administrative paperwork. It deals with the pressure on relationships, the questioning of one's identity and the struggle between wanting to stand up for yourself and not wanting to potentially upset your immigrant status.

In this play Lili explores immigration from Ireland to her native New Mexico and why it's an issue everyone is so damned worried about.

Written and performed by Liliana Ashman with co-writer/dramaturge by Malu Bremer. Directed by Amy Fox. Graphic Design by Sarah Ahern.
