According to the website of the acclaimed Prospect Theater Company, Tony Award-nominee Malcolm Gets (Amour, A New Brain) will host a concert reading of the new musical The Alchemists featuring a number of Broadway stars.  The evening will take place at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher St.) on Monday, April 9th at 7:30 PM.

Featuring music and lyrics by Peter Mills (Illyria, The Pursuit of Persephone) and book by Mills and Cara Reichel, The Alchemists will feature David Abeles, Heath Calvert (Good Vibrations), Jessica Grové (Anne of Green Gables, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Charles Hagerty, and Michael Hunsaker with Richard Todd Adams, Carol Hickey, Greg Horton, Peter Maris, Drew Poling, Navida Stein, Erica Wright, Henry Anderson, Michael Bunting, Brooke Dobossy, Reed Latrowski, and Daniel Marconi, with new orchestrations by Dimitri Nakhamkin.

"Regency England receives a fresh lease on life in the intriguing new musical The Alchemists. This literate, tuneful show revisits the era when Byron, Keats and Shelley flowered, and the unpredictability of romance and passion clashed with the strictures of religion and the logic of science...," wrote Lawrence Van Gelder of the New York Times.

A VIP reception with the cast will follow at Broncas Restaurant & Tapas Bar (91 Christopher St.).  Prices are as follows: $100* (Prime Orchestra Seating & VIP Post-Show Reception), $60* (Orchestra Seating & VIP Post-Show Reception), $30** (Balcony Seating, Show Only), (*all but $20 of each ticket tax-deductible / **all but $10 of each ticket tax-deductible).
