Pass Christian, Miss. - Author George White recalls his wife's health scare and how faith, family and friends helped show him that miracles can happen in his inspirational new memoir, "Susan: The Story of a Miracle" (published by iUniverse).

In January 2012, White's wife, Susan, awoke one night to a terrible stomach pain and was rushed to the emergency room. Doctors informed the couple that Susan had gallstones trapped in her bile duct. In just a matter of hours, she went from a vibrant, healthy woman to a hospital patient struggling to survive.

So began the White's rollercoaster journey, one chronicled in "Susan: The Story of a Miracle." Susan contracted pancreatitis and began to suffer from serious complications. As she slowly recovered, White was able to document an experience that gives a glimpse into difficult times and how comforting the love and generosity of friends and family can be.

While Susan began her painful recovery process, White was able to see how her illness had changed the couple's outlook on life. They became more grateful for everything and discovered that it's possible for miracles to truly happen.
