Variety reports that Chris Colfer, best known for his role as Kurt Hummel on FOX's GLEE, has inked a deal with FOX to make his feature directorial debut on his fantasy story THE WISHING SPELL, the first book of his six-book series "The Land of Stories." The actor will also adapt the book for the big screen.

Fox has acquired the feature rights to the entire children's series which includes illustrated picture books, audiobooks, in-world chapter books and an upcoming graphic novel. The final installment, to be titled "Worlds Collide" is due out July 11th.

"Wishing Spell" follows "a twin boy and girl who, after losing their father, are transported into a book in which they come face to face with characters from classic fairy tales." Upon its release in 2012, the book soared to number one on The New York Times Best Seller list in the Children's Chapter Books category.

Colfer won a Golden Globe for his role in the long-running musical dramedy GLEE. He penned the 2014 "Glee" episode "Old Dog, New Tricks" as well as the 2012 movie "Struck by Lightning," in which he also starred.
