FLUX Studios announces its 2014 CMJ Music Marathon showcase taking place at Rockwood Music Hall's Rockwood Stage 1 in NYC tonight, October 23rd from 12-4:30p. This year's showcase features Andrea Wood, The Liza Colby Sound, Bridge City Hustle, Jay Stolar, Wakey! Wakey! and Banda Magda.

Bridge City Hustle and Banda Magda (who both performed in FLUX's 2013 CMJ showcase), together with Andrea Wood, The Liza Colby Sound, Jay Stolar and Wakey! Wakey! collectively make up one of the most talented and diverse showcases of this year's CMJ Music Marathon. All artists in this year's line-up actively record at FLUX, some of whom are working on projects now.

Here's the official line-up and more info on each artist:

12 - 12:30p - Andrea Wood:
This songbird's rich tone, unparalleled range and intuitive feel allow her to beautifully convey the emotion and versatility in her original compositions to an always captivated audience. "Wood's moderate vibrato at the end of each line and astonishing vocal range inject her phrasing with a dramatic effect, quite effective in conveying the emotions of a song", JazzTimes Magazine. 12:45 - 1:15p -The Liza Colby Sound:
GQ describes The Liza Colby Sound perfectly as "The product of a sexual encounter between Led Zepplin and Aretha Franklin." This rock & soul songstress commands the stage with her larger than life voice, persona (and hair). Matched with a trio of seasoned virtuoso's, their music screams with the rage and lust of garage rock - truly a sound that is all their own. (http://thelizacolbysound.com/)

1:30 - 2p - Bridge City Hustle:
This soul/pop act "sound like seasoned veterans" according to NPR. Frontman Johnny Burgos powerfully and soulfully croons over a sonically-astounding, highly rhythmic and funk-influenced backing band. Collectively, they proclaim their sound to be "New Brooklyn Soul." Their newest single, 'Touch You', is the first release off their sophomore album, coming in 2015. 2:15 - 2:45p - Jay Stolar:
Hailing from Brooklyn, this rising singer-songwriters upbeat melodies and soulful vocals will be everywhere before you know it. Jay Stolar has already successfully garnered exposure through licensing deals with popular shows like 90210, as well as on the Brooklyn Nets court where his track "Brooklyn Hustle" was the 2013 playoff hype-song. Additionally, He has successfully toured the country - drawing fans in such tastemaker markets as Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco among others. Hitting the top of the Billboard Heatseekers chart with his last album, this alt-pop act has a passionately-unparalleled fan base, and is currently on a world tour with 34 dates across North America and Europe (including their CMJ showcase.) 3:45 - 4:30p - Banda Magda:
This rising-international star, Magda Giannikou, captivates the room with her exceptional musicianship, powerful vocals and incomparable band - collectively known as Banda Magda. On the heels of the September 23rd release and US tour of Yerakina - her crowd-funded sophomore album - she joyously leads her multi-cultural band with ease and vivid orchestration as it offers the audience an unrivaled musical experience. The CMJ Music Marathon is a New York City based music conference for independent and emerging artists, taking place throughout NYC at 80+ venues with 1,300+ artists participating from October 21st - 25th.
