On December 15th, Edward Thorp Gallery will inaugurate its new Chelsea space with an exhibit, "REGROUPING," comprising of newly completed work by gallery affiliated artists, several of whom will have solo shows in the coming year. This first exhibition will highlight the program for the season and the continuing direction of the gallery.

Each artist will introduce two pieces. Works presented will include paintings utilizing a diverse variety of scale, material and support. From expressive tactile figuration to cool geometric abstraction, images range from colorful spatial conundrums to the politically charged to fantastical animalistic forms. The works of Matthew Blackwell, Judith Simonian, Chuck Webster, Jenifer Kobylarz, Shawn Spencer, June Leaf, Sarah Gamble, and Neil Farber are featured in tandem with Markus Baenziger, who will exhibit his most recent, meticulously fabricated, sculpture; Edward Finnegan's and Sarah Faux's torn, collaged works on paper; and Mark DeLong's recently completed densely woven, stitched, cardboard constructions.

After sixteen years in its original Chelsea location, "REGROUPING" will mark a new chapter for Edward Thorp Gallery and its artists. The change of architectural context will create opportunities and possibilities in which to explore new orientations in their work.
