Two-time Tony Award-winner Donna Murphy has landed a role in an upcoming feature film.

Murphy has been cast in The Nanny Diaries, in which she'll co-star with Scarlett Johannsson, Paul Giamatti, Laura Linney and Chris Evans.  Directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, they have adapted the screenplay from the bestseller by Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin.

In the film, Murphy will play the mother of Johannson's character, a college student from New Jersey who finds work as the nanny for a rich family on the Upper East Side.

Murphy won Tony Awards for her performances in The King and I and Passion, and was also nominated for her work in Wonderful Town.  She has also appeared on Broadway in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Human Comedy and They're Playing Our Song, and Off-Broadway in Helen, Hello Again, Song of Singapore, Birds of Paradise and more.  An accomplished film and TV actress as well, she has appeared in Spider Man 2, The Door in the Floor, Center Stage, The Astronaut's Wife and Jade, among others.

Murphy also has three other recent films in post-production: Ira and Abby (penned by Wonderful Town co-star Jennifer Westfelt and featuring Frances Conroy and Jason Alexander), Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain (featuring Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Ellen Burstyn) and Oliver Stone's World Trade Center (with Maria Bello and Nicholas Cage).
