Joe's Pub at The Public presents A Good Read, a new ongoing no-frills reading series of classic works of prose and poetry curated by writer and actor John Cameron Mitchell. On Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 11 at 7:00 PM, actor Denis O'Hare will join Mitchell for Volume 2: Luminous Nictitation - an Evening of Russian Metafictional Absurdity at Joe's Pub. The actors will perform two-hander adaptations of works by Vladimir Nabokov. Tickets ($20) are available online and at The Public Theater Box Office (425 Lafayette, NYC, 212-967-7555).

As part of the Joe's Pub mission to support established artists working on new projects, A Good Read is a platform for performers to enact classic works of literature as multi-actor adaptations in a live and intimate setting. The first installment, in which actress Holly Hunter accompanied Mitchell, heralded the Southern-American short story, spotlighting several Flannery O'Connor pieces. Future volume themes include Classic Fantasy, Donald Barthelme + George Saunders and Morning Sex. Further dates and special guests are to be announced.

Of the series, Mitchell says, "I love solo-reader series like Happy Endings and Selected Shorts, but A Good Read is about the real-time excitement generated by two or more actors when they together interpret classic texts that weren't intended for the stage. I was trained at Northwestern University by people like Frank Galati and Mary Zimmerman to understand that all texts are inherently dramatic."

Denis O'Hare has appeared in such films as Milk (Critics' Choice Award for Best Acting Ensemble); Michael Clayton; 21 Grams; Garden State; Half Nelson; and Dallas Buyers Club. He won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor for Richard Greenberg's Take Me Out and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor for his role in Sweet Charity. His recent television appearances include American Horror Story, True Blood, and The Good Wife. He is the co-writer, with Lisa Peterson, and star of An Iliad, which was performed at the New York Theatre Workshop. His upcoming work includes The Normal Heart on HBO, and the films The Pyramid and The Town That Dreaded Sundown.

John Cameron Mitchell wrote and starred in the stage version, and directed the film adaptation of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.š Others films include Shortbus and Rabbit Hole starring Nicole Kidman (who was Oscar-nominated). His updated revival of Hedwig is currently playing on Broadway starring Neil Patrick Harris. He is preparing to direct his film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's story How to Talk to Girls at Parties. John's last appearance with Denis was his 1982 professional acting debut at King Richard's Renaissance Faire in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
