Cincinnati Opera and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) have announced the next workshop in their groundbreaking joint program, Opera Fusion: New Works.

Directed by Gendell Hing-Hernández, CITIZEN opens on October 21. This Word for Word and Z Space production tells the tale of Salvador, born in the U.S. and raised in Mexico, the son of an American Indian mother and a Mexican father.

Soulpepper Theatre will present the Canadian premiere of King Gilgamesh & the Man of the Wild, a delightful new hybrid theatre-music production that brings the epic tale of Gilgamesh to life on stage. Directed by Seth Bockley, and featuring Ahmed Moneka and Jesse LaVercombe alongside celebrated Arabic-Maqam fusion band, Moneka Arabic Jazz, King Gilgamesh & the Man of the Wild will be presented July 25 to August 6, 2023 at the Michael Young Theatre, Young Centre for the Performing Arts.

In May Word for Word’s Production of George Saunders HOME will go to France, on May 10 to Angers and May 16 to Paris. This follows a run in San francisco where Words for Words’ first season production was received enthusiastically by audiences and press alike.

Word for Word's Off the Page staged reading series is back for 2023. The next performance is on March 27, 7 pm at the American Bookbinders Museum and will feature two stories by Kevin Barry, “Who’s Dead McCarthy” and 'The Wintersongs,' both directed by Word for Word Core Company Member Paul Finocchiaro.

La MaMa and The Public’s Under the Radar Festival will present King Gilgamesh & the Man of the Wild, bringing to New York audiences a moving one-act production that fuses live music with storytelling to share co-creator’s Ahmed Moneka's personal journey as an Iraqi actor-refugee in North America.

Symphony Space will present a special evening celebrating the publication of Booker Prize-winning author George Saunders’ new short story collection, Liberation Day. The event takes place Tuesday, October 18, at 7pm EST in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Symphony Space. Stephen Colbert (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert) will also perform.

Based on The New Yorker short story by George Saunders, SPIDERHEAD is a genre-bending and darkly funny psychological thriller directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy, Top Gun: Maverick) and written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland). The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett, Mark Paguio, and Tess Haubrich.

Symphony Space has announced its 2021 Gala, the organization’s first event featuring live performance in its Peter Jay Sharp Theater since March 2020.
