David Horovitch, Adrian Schiller & Lydia Wilson to Join Antony Sher in Hampstead Theatre's HYSTERIA

Antony Sher as Sigmund Freud leads a cast of David Horovitch, Adrian Schiller and Lydia Wilson in Terry Johnson's Hysteria at the Hamstead Theatre, a hilarious and insightful farce that raises intriguing questions about freud's radical revision of his theories on hysteria. The production runs Thursday 5 September to Saturday 12 October 2013.

In 1938 Sigmund Freud fled Nazi-occupied Austria and settled in Swiss Cottage, hoping, at eighty-two years old, to spend his final days in peace. Then Salvador Dalí arrives and finds a less than fully dressed woman in the closet . . . A remounting of the critically acclaimed Theatre Royal Bath production of last year, Hysteria imagines the fall-out when two of the twentieth century's most brilliant and original minds collide.

Double olivier Award winner Antony Sher has a long and illustrious stage career in theatre, film and as a writer with credits too numerous to list. He has most recently been seen on the London stage in The Captain of Kopenick and Travelling Light (National Theatre) and The Tempest (RSC).

Terry Johnson recently directed the sell-out hits Old Money starring Maureen Lipman and David Mamet's Race at Hampstead. His many award-winning productions include Entertaining Mr Sloane, The Graduate and La Cage aux Folles in the West End. 'We are delighted to welcome Terry Johnson back to Hampstead this autumn. His longstanding relationship with Hampstead has continued over the last twelve months with his productions of old Money and Race, and now he will direct his brilliant Hysteria'. David Horovitch's many credits include roles in Grief (National Theatre), When We Are Married and Absurd Person Singular (Garrick), Bedroom Farce (Duke of York's), Life Is A Dream and Mary Stuart (Donmar Warehouse). TV includes Casualty, Great Expectations and The Sculptress (BBC), Heartbeat and Trial & Retribution (ITV) and as Inspector Slack in Miss Marple. Film includes Young Victoria directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and Veiled directed by Dan Susman.

Adrian Schiller's previous theatre appearances include in The Veil and Every Good Boy Deserves Favour (National Theatre), Our Private Lives (Royal Court) and playing Ian Dury in HIT ME! THE LIFE AND RHYMES OF Ian Dury (Leicester Square Theatre). TV includes Doctor Who, Silk, Vendetta and Being Human (BBC). films include Richard II directed by Rupert Goold, Brighton Rock directed by Rowan Joffe and Brightstar directed by Jane Campion.

Lydia Wilson's previous roles include 'Tis Pity She's A Whore (Cheek by Jowl) Acid Test and The Heretic (Royal Court), Blasted (Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith) and Pains Of Youth (National Theatre).
