Two-time Tony-nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega, who will next play Fantine in the Broadway return of Les Miserables, will release her debut album this October on Sh-K-Boom Records.

"'Redemption Songs' is a vibrant and sophisticated collection of pop, Latin folk, rock and reggae influenced songs that are soulful, passionate and very reflective of Rubin-Vega herself," according to press materials.

Rubin-Vega, who recently appeared in the New Group's Everythings Turning Into Beautiful, is best known for originating Mimi Marquez in Rent, for which she received her first Tony nomination (the second was for Anna in the Tropics).  Other theatre credits include The Rocky Horror Show, and F*cking A, for which she won a Lortel Award.  She will star in Les Miserables this fall, and in January of 2007, will join Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman in The Public Theater/LAByrinth production of Jack Goes Boating.
