With Beyonce officially no longer attached, Warner Bros. is once more on THE HUNT for the female lead in its long-gestating remake of A STAR IS BORN.

Today, Mike Fleming, Jr. of Deadline muses that perhaps Golden Globe and multi-Grammy winning recording star Lady Gaga could join Bradley Cooper in the film, following a series of public appearances the pair have recently made together.

He writes: "...you might have seen this past weekend's press photos of Bradley Cooper, taking a motorcycle ride to a restaurant for dinner, with none other than Lady Gaga hanging on to him for dear life. Reports first questioned if they were an item - both are happily spoken for - and so I'm going to throw out something that is a little speculative, but is being discussed right now behind the scenes. What better way to road test the potential pairing of Cooper and Gaga in the remake of A Star Is Born ...?"

A STAR IS BORN follows a few years in the lives of Esther Blodgett (Gaynor), a promising young Hollywood starlet known to her fans as "Vicki Lester", and Norman Maine (March), the older, alcoholic actor who started Esther's career as his own career was fading. Vicki Lester rises to international fame and popularity while Maine sinks into obscurity and suicide. The original 1937 film was produced by David O. Selznick and starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. A Star Is Born has been remade twice, in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson

Will Fetters penned the most recent draft of the script, which Cooper help rework. Billy Gerber and Jon Peters will produce the film.

Cooper recently starred in Broadway's THE ELEPHANT MAN, for which he received a Tony nomination for Best Lead Actor.

The Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter has sold over 27-million albums, 130-million singles, and over 4-million tickets globally to her award-winning live performances.

Lady Gaga has won a total of 6 GRAMMY AWARDS - her most recent this week for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Cheek To Cheek, her 2014 collaboration with Tony Bennett, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She recently starred on TV in FX's AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL.
