NBC News reports that director Mira Nair has confirmed the news that the 2001 Bollywood hit film MONSOON WEDDING will hit the Broadway stage in November of 2015. The movie follows a large Indian family who scramble to put on an elaborate wedding ceremony.

"We just finished casting for Monsoon Wedding on Broadway yesterday [Friday]," she shared with the audience in attendance, adding that the produciton is set to arrive on Broadway in November, 2015.

MONSOON WEDDING will mark the second time a Bollywood-themed musical will be produced on Broadway. In 2004, Bombay Dreams made its way across the Atlantic following a highly successful two-year run in London's West End.

As of now, no official word of the musical's Broadway run has been announced.

Directed by Mira Nair and written by Sabrina Dhawan, 2001's Monsoon Wedding depicted romantic entanglements during a traditional Punjabi Hindu wedding in Delhi. The film earned just above $30 million at the box office and went on to receive the Golden Lion Award as well as a Golden Globe Award nomination. The film premiered in the Marché du Film section of the 2001 Cannes Film Festival.
