CHANTAL, A NEW PLAY BY MANUEL IGREJAS, is set for a A STAGED READING AT DIXON PLACE, TUESDAY JANUARY 28TH AT 7:30 PM IN THE LOUNGE, ADMISSION IS FREE.

The reading is DIRECTED BY David Hilder, and stars KARIN DE LA PENHA and KRISTAN Kelly Brown

Kitty is an actress who gets temp job at a magazine to make ends meet. Her husband is a struggling actor too and does IT between gigs. Kitty's boss at the magazine is glamorous Charlotte, (aka The Dragon Lady). Charlotte's husband isn't just some actor but a famous French movie star and she splits her time between New York and Paris. The two women connect and collide in this dark comedy about the chasm between the haves and have-nots of finance and romance.

CHANTAL reunites Manuel Igrejas, David Hilder and Karin de la Penha who have happily collaborated on Hassan and Sylvia (de la Penha played the sizzling Sylvia), Miss Mary Dugan and individually have long and interesting resumes. Igrejas and Hilder teamed up for Margarita and Max, which had a reading at Dixon Place last June and went on to win Best Short Play, Best Director (David Hilder) and Best Actress awards at the Midtown Festival. KriStan Brown, a recent arrival to NY already has appeared in several productions and is a co-founder of Floodlight Productions. Manuel Igrejas was best known as the publicist for Blue Man Group, Richard Foreman, Elizabeth Streb and many other artists. He returned to playwriting in 2004 and since then his plays have won several awards and been published.
