CC Playhouse Adds New Adult Classes to Lineup

Cumberland County Playhouse's Triple Threat Education Department has announced the addition of two new classes for the spring of 2015. "We're thrilled to five new classes for adults beginning this month," says Education Director Weslie Webster. "These new classes will offer students the opportunity to brush up on the basics in several different areas"

Adult Movement (ages 17 and up): Fridays 9:00-10:00, Jensen Crain, Instructor, Studio A, $45.00/month, classes start August 21. In this class we will be touching on basic techniques of ballet, modern, and jazz in order to expand the student's knowledge of dance while creating a fun and laid back environment.

Fundamentals of Theater (ages 17 and up): Tuesdays 10:00-11:00, Michael Ruff, Instructor, Studio A, $45.00/month, classes start August 18. In this class we will tackle many basic theater questions including finding the right audition material for you and how to handle a cold reading.

Rhythm and Movement (ages 13 and up): Saturdays 9:00-10:00, Donald Frison ,Instructor, Studio A, $5.00/class to Playhouse Volunteers, $10.00/class to general public, classes run Sept. 26-Dec. 12. For our volunteers and seniors who want to learn more about dance styles here at the Playhouse or who just want to keep in shape.

Open Dance Styles (Intermediate & Advanced): Saturdays 10:00-11:30, Donald Frison, Instructor, Studio A, $10.00/class to Playhouse students, $15.00/class to general public, classes run Sept. 26-Dec. 12. This class will offer instruction in different styles of dance from Jazz to Musical Theater and will focus on energy and technique.

Yoga (all ages): Thursdays 9:00-10:00, Penny Vires, Instructor, Studio A, Classes begin August 27, $10.00 walk in fee for each class (employee/student discounts apply). This class will provide you with the utmost rejuvenating experience while focusing on your health and fitness.

Also recently added to CCP's lineup of classes are two writing workshops taught by Grammy nominated songwriter Bobby Taylor: Lyrical Life Themes and The Works Between The Works.

The Playhouse continues to offer top-notch instruction in dance, voice, acting, clogging, stagecraft and musical theater. All classes are taught by working professional performers and student teachers who have trained for years and have performed with the Playhouse's professional actors and directors extensively.

Upcoming: The Foreigner, rated G, co-sponsored by Stanley Bise, M.D. and Dr. Anthony Wilson., September 4 through November 6.
