"The Broadway Musicals of 1949" will be the latest "Broadway by the Year" CD. Featuring Karen Ziemba, Cady Huffman, Marla Schaffel and more, it will be released on May 19th.

Produced by Bayview Records, the recordings preserve performances given in the popular Town Hall series, which is written and hosted by Scott Siegel. In addition to Tony Award-winners Huffman (The Producers) and Ziemba (Never Gonna Dance, Contact), and Schaffel (Jane Eyre), the CD will feature
Scott Coulter, Nancy Lemenager (Never Gonna Dance), Noah Racey (Never Gonna Dance), Martin Vidnovic (Baby, Oklahoma!), Lennie Watts and Robert Westenberg (The Secret Garden, Into the Woods) singing songs from the musicals of 1949--a group of shows that included South Pacific, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Lost in the Stars.

The cast recording of "The Broadway Musicals of 1949" is produced by Robert Pinne. Robert Bianca directed the April 2004 concert, and Ross Patterson offered musical direction.

To date, several "Broadway by the Year" CDs have been released, with the earlier ones representing musicals from the years 1925, 1933, 1939, 1940, 1943, 1951, 1953, 1964 and 1926.
