On Sunday, October 16, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., Bronx Community's College's National Historic Landmark campus will once again welcome visitors participating in Open House New York 's annual foray to some of the City's hidden architectural and artistic attractions. Alongside this year's event, the College is hosting an Architecture and Arts Festival, a free family event featuring art exhibits, dance and music performances showcasing some of the best of both BCC and its Bronx home borough.

Among the afternoon's attractions:

  • Guided tours of the BCC campus, including the Stanford White-designed Gould Memorial Library and the Hall of Fame for Great Americans and buildings by the noted architects Marcel Breuer and Robert AM Stern
  • Performances provided by the Bronx Arts Ensemble, the Lorenz Latin Dance Studio, MAD about Dance Company and Desmond the Songwriter
  • Paintings by renowned Bronx artist Daniel Hauben. There will also be visual art from Daniel Del Valle, Dennesa Usher, Jennifer Tomaiolo, and Dennis Redmoon Darkeem. Andre Trenier will "live paint" a work of art while the Festival is in progress.
  • Presentations by the students of BCC, including screenings of student films from the BCC film festival, pieces by BCC student-artists, a performance by the BCC Student Dance Workshop - even the sports car built by the students in the Automotive Technology program
  • Displays from the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, the Historic Districts Council and the Bronx County Historical Society
  • "Split Journey," an exhibit of the work of Norma Marquez Orozco, will be on display in the Hall of Fame Art Gallery in Bliss Hall.
  • A "Taste of the Bronx" - samplings of the food and drink that are transforming the borough into a foodie's paradise. Other vendors will include Luke's Lobster, Tirado Distillery, Delizzia's Panini, Fauzia West Indian Food and the International Coquito Federation.
