Brazen Theater presents the world premier of The Miss Longview Texas Drag Pageant, a new play written and directed by Mark Hooker beginning December 12th at the John DeSotelle Studio #301 in the Times Square Arts Building. The show runs five performances through December 15th prior to an extended engagement at the same venue scheduled for January 17th thru February 2nd of 2014. The cast includesRobert Agis (Law and Order) , David M. Farrington (Baptized at FringeNYC), Annabel Guevara (Teatro Vivo), Daniel Keith (Rambler),Chris Rivera (Hedwig and The Angry Inch), Max Henry Schloner (The Shape of Things), Nathan Shapiro (The Pillowman), Scott Silvestro (Raft of Medusa) and Ali Wetzel (Women of Manhattan).

A gay Thanksgiving celebration at the Longview East Texas Victorian home of former drag performer, Dinky and his partner Renny replete with pinecone turkeys and apple martinis anticipates an evening Drag Contest at the local high school to be judged by none other than hometown boy and film star, Matthew McConaughey. The gathering is complicated by the unwelcome arrival of a saucy high school teacher and her sexually ambiguous former husband (the town sheriff) who expose secrets and deceptions of invited guests. Further mayhem ensues when an escaped convict takes the group hostage, and a mysterious light from the sky conjures thoughts of unwelcome alien guests, forcing everyone to ask the question, "are we alone in the universe"? Mark Hooker's wild new comedy promises outrageous fun and an amusing homage to vintage television.

Mark Hooker wrote the musical What Liza Saw. The Miss Longview Texas Drag Pageant is his first full length play. An actor, director and teacher, he is also the artistic director and creator of Brazen Theatre, a not for profit LGBT theatre in Minneapolis.
