Borrowed By Design Sponsors Operation PROM

Borrowed By Design (BBD), an online platform for women to rent their formal wear to each other, announced it is hosting a dress drive and fashion show event on August 17 th to benefit Operation PROM - a non-profit focused on providing dresses for underprivileged high school seniors so they may attend prom and homecoming. The event, taking place at the Atlanta Tech Village, is geared toward any young women who would like to donate their gently worn formal wear. Eligible members of the Operation PROM organization will be in attendance and have the opportunity to choose a dress to take home. Attendees will also enjoy a fashion show featuring local young women from the USA Georgia Ambassadors pageant and other state and national titleholders modeling their own formal wear for donation. This unique event aims to bring together local young women of all backgrounds in support of a common ground cause they can all relate to. "Partnering with Operation PROM is a dream for Kathryn (CEO) and I. When we founded Borrowed By Design, one of our missions was to give back to the community in a meaningful way. Remembering what prom was like for us, there is nothing as glamorous as putting on a 'new-to-me' dress and creating memories to last a lifetime," says Jennifer Collom, COO of Borrowed By Design. Considering that Borrowed By Design is still in the creation phase of their startup, committing to community service early in the founding stages shows dedication to sustainable and reliable clothing options. The partnership with organizations such as Operation PROM will give future BBD members a way to donate dresses that are at the end of their renting life but still in great shape to be worn. This will foster philanthropy across the platform in order to benefit thousands of young women in years to come.

Borrowed By Design is currently fundraising for the development of their platform through Rockethub. Donations through their crowdfunding campaign will help the company complete their first phase and launch, scheduled for the Fall 2013 season.
