Bill Irwin, currently portraying Vladimir in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Waiting for Godot, has joined the already distinguished panel titled The Play’s the Thing, a discussion of the proliferation of plays during the 2008-09 theater seasons, which will be held Friday, June 12, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sardi’s Restaurant, 234 West 44th Street, 4th Floor.

Irwin, who received a Drama Desk nomination for his present role, in which he is continuing at Studio 54 through July 12, will next appear in the part of Mr. Harry MacAfee in the Roundabout’s production of Bye Bye Birdie in the fall of 2009.

Other already announced panelists include playwright Annie Baker, author of Body Awareness, Marcia Gay Harden, who received a Drama Desk nomination and won a Tony Award for playing Veronica in God of Carnage, Condola Rashad, Sophie in Ruined and Drama Desk and Tony Award winner Geoffrey Rush, King Berenger in Exit the King. The moderator is Elysa Gardner, theater critic of USA Today.
