Benaroya Pictures has announced today that international production veteran Prashant Shah has joined the company as Vice President and Head of Physical Production. Shah brings with him production experience spanning over 20 feature films and dozens of television shows throughout India, the UK and the US including the VFX-heavy RA.ONE, India's most expensive superhero film and MY NAME IS KHAN, which is Bollywood's highest grossing film to date. For the past ten years Shah has worked closely with both independent and major studios on projects with budgets ranging from $3 to $35M.

In 2010 Shah was the recipient of the "Producer of the Year" award from the United States Congress for creating thousands of job opportunities on local productions. In addition, he has been nominated as "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Ernst & Young, is the founder of Bollywood Hollywood Productions, and is on the Board of Directors for Film Florida.

As Head of Physical Production he will work closely with company founder Michael Benaroya on upcoming projects, working on the budgeting and scheduling of all productions as well as supervising production duties on set.

"After seeing Shah's great successes with a variety of international productions, we look forward to a continued track record of producing high-quality films. He will be a valuable on-set presence with our future projects," said Benaroya.

"We will have a disciplined and cost-conscious approach to production management regardless of where we make the picture," said Shah. "This is a very exciting time to join the company and I am truly honored to be working with a producer of the caliber as Michael Benaroya."

Currently, Benaroya Pictures has a number of projects in various stages of production, including Brian Horiuchi's PARTS PER BILLION which stars an ensemble cast that includes Rosario Dawson, Josh Hartnett, Teresa Palmer, Penn Badgley, Frank Langella and Gena Rowlands. The company recently completed production on KILL YOUR DARLINGS, starring Michael C. Hall, Daniel Radcliffe, Jack Huston, Ben Foster and Elizabeth Olsen, which bowed in competition at the 2013 Sundance festival. The film will be released domestically by Sony Pictures Classics. Other recent titles include the romantic mystery The Words starring Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, and Ben Barnes, which was released by CBS Films last year. Also released recently was the thriller LAWLESS, staring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska from the Weinstein Company. The company's financial thriller MARGIN CALL was recently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and won the Best First Feature Award at the 2011 Independent Spirit Awards.
