Bad Theater Fest, created as a supportive, fun and open environment for artists to present anything weird, different or unique has announced their lineup of dramatic short plays, comedy shows and dance, musical theater and storytelling performances. As part of their 5th year celebration Bad Theater Fest moves to a Brooklyn venue: St. Paul's Upstairs Theater, 334 S. 5th St. (between Rodney and Keap St.), Brooklyn, NY, 11211. The festival takes place Tuesday through Saturday, November 1 - 5, 2016 with multiple performances each evening. Tickets are $15 and will be available soon at badtheaterfest.com.

"We are sort of embarrassed about this election year," states co-founder Shawn Wickens. "A lot of the complaints that people have about Donald Trump - you know, being crazy - that was kind of the motivation for Bad Theater Fest's inception. But in a more fun and harmless way."

Some highlights from this year include Cat Wedding by Anoush Froundjian: Nothing can stand in the way of this union (except balls of yarn). Connor Wright presents a 10-minutes piece called Bono's AQUAMAN: The Musical. Among the 30 other plays there are also have two visiting pieces from Tennessee: The Inconsequential Cupcake! by Harrison Young (Cookeville, TN) and 12th Midsummer Nights Tempest by Christine Marie (Memphis, TN).

Now in its third year, the festival started on a whim and with an initial investment of $200 by friends Shawn Wickens and Starr Kendall. Bad Theater Fest has hosted over 200 shows with the participation of nearly 600 playwrights, directors and actors. The festival's commitment to a low-risk, fun environment for the shows fosters an eclectic mix of theatrical style and scope. Their companion event - BAD FILM FEST takes place in Williamsburg, BK every April.
