Authors Shakoor Shamshad and Lola-Peach Martins' new book portrays the everyday life of characters placed on a large canvas of political and social upheavals. "Shades of Dignity" (published by AuthorHouse) follows a woman trying to make her way out of damaging religious and cultural traditions.

"We were inspired to write this book because of our interest in human relationships, cultural development, human rights and women's rights issues; and aware that a lack of knowledge, understanding and respect has a tendency to lead to turbulent conflicts and divisions."

With unforgettable characters, and a plot so realistic that there's a thin line to cross for possibilities of it happening in real life, this is not only a work meant to be marketed, but to be shared and to be told. "Shades of Dignity" is a work telling a universal story that transcends time, circumstances, religion and culture.

The book has already found many positive reviews, but it is most succinctly endorsed by D. Zackray, "Readers interested in Afghan culture will certainly find this to be an interesting book."
