The Austrian Cultural Forum in association with the Austrian Trade Commission/ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA will present Butterbrot, one of the most successful plays in the German-speaking world, by Austrian playwright and director Gabriel Barylli, starring well-known Austrian actor and entertainer Alfons Haider. Following its grand success in its English translation as Chickenshit at the Vienna English theatre, the show is having its U.S. premiere at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York (11 East 52nd Street - between 5th & Madison Avenues). The production will be presented for three performances only - on Tuesday, November 4th at 7:30pm for a private creative industries event co-hosted by the Austrian Trade Commissioner and the ACFNY, and public performances on Wednesday, November 5th and Thursday, November 6th a 6:30pm.

In Butterbrot (Chickenshit) two men, Stefan and Martin, have created a "locus amoenus" of their own - a shared apartment of bachelors. When they decide to throw a birthday party for their friend Peter, things get out of control. Martin falls in love and thinks of giving up bachelor-life. Stefan sacrifices his acting-career for the sake of truthfulness. And finally Peter, who goes from "for better or worse" to deleting the words "love and marriage" from his vocabulary and becomes a soon-to-be bachelor again. A birthday party, bachelor party and divorce party all in one!

Mr. Haider plays Peter and will be joined on stage by Howard Nightingall as Stefan and Dave Moskin as Martin.
