This Spring, join us for Shakespeare's beautifully told tale of passion and jealousy. Marc Pouhé (who has previously played Macbeth and Othello for Austin Shakespeare) returns to the Rollins Theater at the Long Center from February 13 - March 2. There will be a specially priced preview on the 12th, and, as a bonus, Belle of Amherst ticket holders will get up to 25% off their ticket during the run.

Othello is the tale of a hero lured into jealousy by doubts, manipulated by perhaps the greatest villain in all Shakespeare: Iago. Discover a war hero in love with a young admirer, Desdemona. Early in the play, she flees her father's home to elope with her celebrated Othello. See how Iago, step by cunning step, tricks all those who surround him to trap Othello by his passion to be come a jealous monster. Iago's reason? None, other than that he hates Othello for being such a good person.

Experience this new production, celebrating the clarity of Shakespeare's language with honest adherence to the story of Othello's tragedy from the grandeur of nobility to the personal intimacy of true love. The sleek Rollins Studio Theatre becomes a crystal sparkling with luminous poetry and imaginative storytelling.
Marc Pouhé will return in the title role; "Othello" was Pouhé's first major Shakespeare role in 2005; subsequently he starred as Macbeth for then new Artistic Director, Ann Ciccolella, who will direct this new Othello production.

After a winning a battle against a long-term, serious illness, Marc is back. A three-time winner of the Austin Critics' Table Award, Marc has appeared on TV in Prison Break and Friday Night Lights, and on a lighter note, Marc is the voice of Dogbert in the animated web series on Dilbert.com.
